Start of the new Series!

I have been accepted into RAW Mixology!! There will be more Artists than just me and drinks! Basis of the series: At some point in time every person has either made a label for another human being or been a victim of being labeled or both.  This series will focus on labels, good, bad and in between.  Some of these may include, Dumb, Fat, Ugly, Pretty, Skinny, Anorexic, Trucker, Homeless, Hillbilly, Hero, Competitor, Gamer, etc.

The reason for the bags: When Labels are given to people they tend to take over and consume that person's true identity and others start believing that label, true or not.   They no longer see the person for who they are.  With the bags people will focus on the label and start to wonder who the person underneath really is, all in making the imagery more powerful.

Now, THE RULES:
1. EVERYONE, NO EXCEPTIONS, MUST FILL OUT A MODEL RELEASE FORM in order to participate.
2. You can be ANY age, if under the Majority, your parent or legal guardian must agree to and sign the Model Release Form.
3. I  will direct you in what to wear for your shoot and where it will be.
4. YOU will choose your Label with the final decision being mine.
5. The "Labeled" person will wear a bag over his/her head additional people in the shoot may or may not wear a bag.
6. The "Labeled" person's identity WILL NOT be revealed.  Their name will not be mentioned either.  (This is in case someone is truly hurt by their label).
6. I am VERY busy so PLEASE do not waste my time by not showing up to your scheduled slot.


If all of this seems a bit much, or very strict, it is only because I want things to run smoothly and be well organized, this is my FIRST series out of school and I would like it to be a great one!!

I am still thinking of a way to compensate the models, either a print from your shoot signed or un-signed that I choose or something along those lines.

NEW PHOTO SERIES

Overdue

I haven't posted anything in awhile so here is an image for you all to enjoy!

Cincinnati

I don't do a lot of Landscape work and I'm not quite sure why.  The city is always there and, it is the easiest to access.  Recently my Dad asked me to take a photo of the Roebling Bridge to hang on his wall at home, here is what I got:

What just Happened?

On Jan. 9th I went to the hospital with stomach pain, this trip ended in surgery.  Everything happened rather quick.  Now I am not one to get up and go, but I felt something was not quite right.  I arrived there about 9:30 am and was called back shortly there after, where they drew blood, of course nothing else to do I laid there with pain.  When the doctor came back he said my infection levels were up and being where my pain was he was sending me for a CT Scan.  Now I have never had one of these before and I honestly did not know what to think.  Then my nurse came in and said she had to start an IV, well here we go I thought.  I asked her how many times she was going to stick me, because with my track record no one I mean NO ONE can EVER get my IV going on the first try.  She must have looked for a vein for what seemed a half hour.  During this time my arm was loosing feeling.  Finally she said she was gonna try the vein but it was far under the skin and whelp she stuck me alright, it felt like she was anchoring a boat.  She told me I could go ahead and cuss her, but I held my composure and asked her to please not stick me more than twice.  So on the second try we were golden, however I could not bend my arm.  When waiting for the scan I had to drink fluids along with IV fluids going into my arm and let me tell you my bladder was not happy.  After all this excitement I was transported up to radiology where the lady began to tell me what the scan is all about at the end she told me about a dye they put in the IV which makes you hot, feels like you have to pee, some people become short of breath and some people get hives, but no worries "We are prepared to treat that."  They joys of going to the ER, I'm tellin ya if I did not have anything wrong with me I was gonna be mad! Anyways I go through with it the machine comes over my body tells me to hold my breath a few times then the lady comes over and says she is going to insert the dye. No kidding, I got scared and if I knew the IV would not have ripped from my arm I probably would have jumped up.  Well it goes in I get hot, I already have to pee, and then I really felt that I went on myself, of course I didn't.  My heart starts racing and my breaths are close together, then the machine goes over I hold my breath and it's over!  Back down to the ER I go to wait.  When the doctor comes in he says my Appendix are swollen and I may or may not have them removed, but if not I will stay in the hospital for a couple days to make sure everything is okay. He leaves go talks with the surgeon, and then he comes back pokes his head in the room and says, "We're takin' em out." Well, that leaves room for discussion.  Before I know it I have a room in CCU, because I am "Overflow" before I even got settled in I was wheeled down to the OR around 5pm or so.  A team of doctors were asking me questions all over my bed giving me "Cocktails" and prepping me for surgery.  I don't remember much after that.  When I woke I wanted my husband and I had a craving for Pasquale's... to my knowledge I should not eat but I wanted to.  By the time I got to my room the craving was gone.. and in came Eric and Addysen with flowers!  After they came in Addy started telling everyone to come see her mommy.  I stayed in the hospital until the next day and went home late afternoon.  I was very blessed to have people to take care of me and bring me to recover where I am now. I feel pretty good but still having a few pains when I sit up, but I am getting better.  Everyone at the hospital was great in taking care of me and I am glad I went when I did or I wouldn't have had such an amazing Team!  Thanks to all!

Today Eric and I watched Braxton, (his cousin) I felt up to taking photos since I hadn't in such a little while, that I wanted to share some with you!  This little guy is a huge blessing to the family being born at 27 weeks he found the strength to come home and be this healthy little guy he is today!  One day he will know how special he really is and how many obstacles he has over-come, you sure are loved Braxton!!

Welcome 2012!

You may be tired of hearing about the "New Year" already, but I can assure you you have been excited about it at some point.  2011 brought some ups and downs all in all it was good to me and my family.  As I posted last was a little bit about my college career, so that comes up my best images, or the ones I like the most.  Here is to the start of the New Year.  May it be wonderful, bring lots of smiles, laughter and kindness... after all this is the year my daughter will turn a WHOLE HAND... here is something I leave you with enjoy..

A few of the Favorites from College Projects

All of these photos bring something new from the table.  Each one of them I have learned something valuable that I will carry with me for the rest of my career.  I cannot thank the Professors at NKU enough for everything they have taught me.

One of my favorite shoots while being at NKU, was the time we did creative black and whites in the studio, I chose to do mine on Firefighters.

I was told to use two lights, and here is what happened.

William Coupon lighting, is so beautiful, shooting portraits this way, is truly an art.

Shooting products was a struggle, but once the light was set, it was a simple push of the shutter.
